Mission 28:19 Youth Conference

God put on Pastor Rob’s heart in 2009 to have a youth event. He did not do anything about it and wasn’t sure what it was all about. At a Men retreat gathering, he spoke about what God was going and how hungry these At-Risk teens were for building a relationship with the Lord in the youth group he Pastors at Resource Treatment Facility. After speaking about this, an inner city Pastor had him speak with a guy who runs a studio in the inner city and brings teens in to minister to them there. They spoke for about an hour and how they needed to connect with his group to come in and do a concert for the At-Risk teens at the facility.

On Pastor Rob’s way home God spoke to him again about this event and visions of how he wanted it to happen. He spent lots of time in prayer to make sure this is what He would have him to do. The studio came to the facility to do a concert and Pastor Rob spoke to them about the vision. They were instantly on board and began to speak about who they could bring on board to help. One of the performers wives spoke up to say that the lady doing spoken word that night had told her two months prior to this night that God had spoken to her that a big event for the youth was going to happen in Indianapolis, she didn’t know when or by who but just that it was going to happen. Then the lady who was the gospel singer spoke up and told us that when God speaks to this lady that things happen, and then said she was really in. We then proceeded to pray for the event and began to talk to other people about this vision that the Lord had given. We began meeting with a lawyer, setting up a board and having our first team meeting on June 17th 2014.

Indianapolis has lots of people in the community that are doing their own outreaches joining forces with us to make this happen. The vision is to reach 5000+ teens in a one day event with a break area for businesses, outreaches and other places to provide opportunities for the inner city teens to get plugged into. The whole idea is to help stop the violence with our youth and give them outlets to spend their time besides the streets where that is all they have known and been groomed in to the street life from older brothers, neighbors or not so good role models.

The back part to this for us is beginning to develop and plant a youth church downtown where we can have services on Friday and Saturday nights to keep teens off the street and have a safe place for them to go to. We will be looking for a building for the church and add the studio in so we can reach teens through music. This is a big step of faith for us, but we have felt called to inner city teens for a long time.

Pastor Rob was given a Vision to reach the inner city teens of Indianapolis. The Vision is more than an event, it is all about having ministries, businesses, clubs, and community come together to give teens positive opportunities instead of being out on the streets or in violent situations.
